sculpture, heelys, conkers
I am drawn to the sculptural quality of these thorns and the green blackberries in waiting.
What are heelys? In case you didn't know they are the wheels set into childrens' shoes, which allow the shoes when the children's weight is distributed approprately to become instant roller skates, and the children instant missiles. Bliss, I used to think. But, "to reduce the risk of accident to our customers and colleagues," says a notice on the door of Sainsbury's "heeleys may not be worn in the store with wheels attached."
After the wind and rain of the last few days, the grass in the Grove is scattered with miniature conkers in their spiked green cases under the horse chestnut trees.
