Shade, starlings, herrings

Reading in the shade.

Starlings foraging in the grass like chickens do.

Sweet pickled herrings, which have been marinated in olive oil, with a salad made from Jersey Royal potatoes flavoured with chopped dill.

I like yours, though 50 years divides us. Meanwhile, I am still mystified by the other Plutarch, whose comment, which I don't disagree with, rebounded on me. It made me wonder whether I might have developed a multiple personality. But I don't think so.
